Focus · Sleep optimisation

Nidra. Sleep worked on clinically, not just tracked.

One of eight Focuses · available on Pause, Reset, and View · £500 – £900 indicative

A structured sleep-optimisation protocol on top of the Orion sleep tracking every programme guest already receives. Adds an AcuPebble sleep-apnea screen if not previously run, a full four-session CBT-I (cognitive-behavioural therapy for insomnia) course with the Manas psychologist, a formal chronotype assessment, and a written sleep-environment plan for the guest's own home. Named after Sanskrit nidra — sleep — the state Ayurveda has treated as one of the three pillars of longevity alongside diet and disciplined life. Clinical: CBT-I is the international first-line recommendation for chronic insomnia, ahead of hypnotic medication, in every major sleep-medicine guideline. Most guests have never been offered it.

Indicative range £500 – £900 before shared-element dedup with other chosen Focuses

What's included

The clinical sleep protocol on top of Orion tracking.

  • AcuPebble sleep-apnea screen (from the standard Nidana workflow) — a single-night neck-worn acoustic sensor from Acurable that records breathing patterns, heart rate variability, and oxygen desaturation events. Screens for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), which affects roughly one in ten adults and remains undiagnosed in the majority of them. Already runs in the standard Nidana workflow when Orion overnight data flags apnea-risk patterns, or when the guest self-reports snoring at intake — Nidra Focus does not duplicate this. For Focus-only bookings (Nidra taken without a longevity programme) the screen is included at hotel cost. Skipped without refund if the guest has been formally screened in the last two years.
  • Full four-session CBT-I course — cognitive behavioural therapy for insomnia delivered by the Manas psychologist across the stay. The four-session protocol covers sleep restriction, stimulus control, cognitive restructuring of sleep-related thoughts, and sleep hygiene beyond the standard checklist. Shared with the Klesha and Manas Focuses if any are chosen — the psychologist time is delivered once and the second Focus is discounted.
  • Chronotype assessment — Morningness-Eveningness Questionnaire (MEQ) plus a review against the Orion nightly data to establish the guest's natural circadian type, and the practical adjustments that flow from it (light exposure timing, caffeine window, exercise timing, ideal bedtime range).
  • Written sleep-environment overhaul plan — a detailed plan for the guest's home bedroom: mattress and pillow specification aligned to chronotype and posture, blackout / light-management plan, temperature target and how to hit it without an Orion system at home, noise management, and — where relevant — separate-bed / sleep-divorce recommendations with a script for the conversation.
  • Departure-day Nidra review — thirty-minute session on departure day: the four nights of Orion data reviewed against the CBT-I work, the chronotype findings, and the sleep-environment plan. The guest leaves with an integrated protocol rather than four separate pieces of paper.
Orion is standard, not part of Nidra

The Orion Sleep System — contact-free nightly HRV and sleep-stage tracking, temperature-controlled bed, auto-generated take-home sleep report — is a standard inclusion on every programme from Weekend upward. Nidra Focus adds the deeper clinical layer on top: apnea screen, CBT-I course, chronotype, environment plan.

Focus economics

Where each part of the £700 actually goes.

The Nidra Focus is priced at £700 recommended (indicative range £500 – £900). No third-party pass-through — the AcuPebble apnea screen is already picked up by the standard Nidana workflow (Orion overnight data flags apnea-risk patterns; Acurable returns the clinical-grade report at £60 absorbed into the programme fee). When a guest books Nidra as a Focus-only stay without an underlying longevity programme, the £60 Acurable cost is absorbed into the £700 fee at hotel cost. The full £700 stays with the hotel and funds the CBT-I course with the Manas psychologist, the chronotype assessment, the written sleep-environment plan, the departure-day integration review, and (for Focus-only bookings) the AcuPebble device. After costing hotel delivery at £310 (psychologist time at Programmes-page baseline £55/hr + £30 blended AcuPebble absorption across bookings), the net contribution to new investment is £390 per Focus — a 56% margin on the full fee.

No third-party pass-through — the CBT-I course is delivered by the Manas psychologist (employed hire — see the Sama Clinic workforce table); chronotype and environment work are the psychologist's time drafting the guest's plan. The AcuPebble apnea screen sits in the standard Nidana workflow (Acurable returns a clinical-grade report at £60/screen); Nidra Focus does not duplicate this when the standard workflow has already run it. The 56% margin is in the middle of the Focus set — Nidra is neither the most consumable-heavy (Kanti) nor the most clinician-heavy (Klesha, Manas).

What price does each margin imply?

Costs are fixed: £310 of hotel delivery (psychologist time at £55/hr baseline + blended AcuPebble absorption for Focus-only bookings). No third-party pass-through. The only thing that changes with a different target margin is the Focus fee. Drag the slider.

Implied Focus fee £705

Recommended: £700 — a private CBT-I course from an accredited psychologist is £600-£1,000 in the UK on its own, before the apnea screen (£120+ private) or the sleep-environment work. The slider lets you test alternatives.

Contraindications & referral pathways

Who Nidra isn't for.

  • Suspected severe untreated sleep apnea (heavy AHI in the AcuPebble screen) — the finding is what the Focus is for, but the treatment is a sleep-clinic referral for a formal polysomnogram and CPAP titration, not something a wellness Focus provides. The Focus continues in a modified form and the referral pathway is arranged with the guest's home clinical team.
  • Chronic refractory insomnia not responsive to prior CBT-I — needs specialist sleep-medicine referral rather than a repeat of the same intervention.
  • Nightshift or rotating-shift work — chronotype-based recommendations don't apply cleanly. Deferred; a bespoke shift-worker protocol can be discussed at intake.
  • Currently on high-dose or long-term hypnotic medication (long-term Z-drugs, benzodiazepines) — CBT-I works but should be sequenced with a supervised taper, which needs the guest's usual prescriber's involvement.
  • Recent bereavement (within 6 months) — grief-related sleep disturbance follows its own arc; CBT-I is not the right frame for it. Bereavement counselling first, sleep work later.
